由于石油和其他商品的进口超过了出口增长，美国1月贸易逆差391亿美元，高于预期385亿美元，较12月387亿美元有所增加。

1月份出口依然稳健，受美国机械、飞机和医疗器械出口增长带动，出口额环比上涨了0.6%至1928亿美元。进口同样上涨0.6%至2316亿美元，其中石油进口大涨9%。

从下图中看出，美国贸易逆差已经连续四个月低于400亿美元，且逆差缩小的大趋势并没有改变。

对中国的贸易赤字环比增加13.5%至278亿美元，延续了2013年的趋势。2013年全年，美国对中国的贸易赤字创历史新高，该趋势有望在2014年继续保持下去。

同时公布的2月非农就业数据大幅超出预期，可能预示着美国经济正在从严寒中复苏。数据公布后，黄金跳水，美元标普急涨。
